My Neighbor and my new dSLR

First attempt at RAW conversion... I'm lost. Completely. When imported from camera to F-spot, the image looks great, but when I open it in UFRaw, it's dull and flat and all I do makes it even worse... Need to find some tutorials for dummies - asap!

Postprocessing - just a little bit of High pass on the overlay layer, not much. Tiny bit.
